Frequently asked
How do I catch a creature?
Tap the capture button, point your camera at a real animal or insect, and snap. Gotcha cuts out the subject, identifies it, and adds the matching entry to your index.
Do I need an account?
No. You can catch and collect without an account. Signing in (with Apple, Google, or a one-time email code) is optional and lets you pick a collector handle, set an avatar, and carry your Gotcha+ membership across devices.
Where is my collection stored?
Your creature collection lives on your device. If you create an account, your profile (handle, email, and optional avatar) is stored on our backend so it works across devices. Your photos and stickers are never uploaded to our servers.
What is Gotcha+?
Gotcha+ is an optional subscription that unlocks features like unlimited catches and the catch map, and helps support development and conservation. It’s billed through your Apple account. Manage or cancel it any time in Settings, your name, Subscriptions.
A creature was misidentified.
Identification is automatic and not always perfect. Try a clearer, closer photo with the subject well lit. Gotcha is designed for real, live subjects, so photos of a screen or a printed picture may not identify reliably.
How do I delete my account or data?
You can delete your account right in the app: open Settings, then “Delete account.” That permanently removes your account, profile, handle, and avatar, and anonymizes your catch analytics. Deleting the app removes your on-device collection. For anything else, email gotcha-support@catchy.fan. See our Privacy Policy for details.
