Delete your account

Gotcha is a real-life creature index built by Jurre de Ruiter. This page explains how to request deletion of your Gotcha account and the data associated with it.

Delete your account from inside the app

The fastest way is directly in the Gotcha app (iOS or Android):

Open the Gotcha app and make sure you are signed in.
Open your Profile and tap Settings.
Tap Delete account.
Confirm. Your account and backed-up data are permanently deleted right away.

Delete your account by email

If you no longer have the app installed, email gotcha-support@catchy.fan from the address on your account (or include your account email or collector handle) and ask us to delete your account. We will verify the request and delete your data, and respond within 30 days.

What is deleted

Your account and profile: email address, collector handle, display name, and avatar.
Your backed-up collection stored on our backend: catch photos, finished stickers, and the catch locations tied to your account.
Your friends, progress, achievements, and badges, and your place on leaderboards.
Your park, including its items, currencies, and purchase records.
Your notification tokens.
Your account identifier issued by our authentication provider.

Deleting your account does not cancel a Gotcha+ subscription. Cancel it first in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Deletion is permanent and takes effect immediately when done in the app. Backups cannot be recovered afterwards.

What is kept

Anonymized analytics and reports. Past catch analytics events and wrong-species reports are anonymized rather than deleted: we remove your account identifier, device identifier, and precise location, keeping only non-identifying information used to operate and improve the service. Species requests and chat assistant conversations are kept without your account identifier.
Support conversations. Messages you sent to support are kept so we can follow up. Email us and we will delete them too.
Error logs are deleted automatically after 30 days.
On-device data stays with you. Your local copy of the collection is not on our servers; remove it by deleting the app.
